You changed Wal-Mart… Now keep going.

As my generation comes in to money, out from the shadow of our parents we are becoming strong consumers. More so than any other generation it seems. But do we think about this at all? Generally not. We assume we are cattle so most of us focus on having fun, unforgiving, no regrets, cliche, cliche, cliche.

But what we aren’t realizing is that we vote every day on issues that effect our planet and it’s unique cultures and things that fall between the cracks. Over the past 5 years organic has made a huge impact on companies. “Green” has also had the same impact and it just keeps gathering steam, motion that even the largest companies will not be able to stop; or they will force bankrupcy. Case in point the choices of consumers has forced Wal-Mart to focus on locally grown and raised food. No additives, less pesticides, no synthetic hormones. If you don’t know, this is a huge feat.

More than any other generation we can change the options we have as the consumer; because we can know better. And we should.

This is the first post I’ll be making of many on how as a consumer you can procreate ingenuity that can and will save us from previous generations mistakes and chains.
