Politics != Religion == Dangerous Mindset

This is the very reason why I stress to people that things like freedom of speech should not be used as an excuse to mix religion and politics. Religiously you vote for the best for your neighbor, not necessarily making them accept your views, but in their best interests for health and well being.

Sad to see that during the last election, our president ran these ads… It’s shameful in my opinion.

And I do want to be specific here. I appreciate both religion and politics, and the seperation of each. I have no problem with a person voting based on their religion… But that is a slippery slope. Because 95% of the time, it means those who will vote based on religious believes allow themselves ot get wrangled into having to vote based on their religious views; meaning politicians will put the abortion issue in front of economic policy, or foreign relations… Religion allows much of what I consider to be more important issues in politics to take back seat, making a majority of the country concerned if somehow the president is going to over turn Congress and change abortion laws, etc.

My point is that if you do not divide your own health, with the health of the nation and the rest of the world, we will forever have to worry about strong religious types in America not being intelligent about the economy, foreign relations, energy/environmental policies, etc.

Only concerning yourself with what a politician says about something like abortion, is the first step in giving up your civil liberties, because in the end you will be happy as long as other people are forced to practice your religion through law… And that is a bubble nobody should be in, not via their government.
