Rally… Nascar can screw itself.

I know, I know… Cruising at 180mph is still challenging. Or the age old “how can so many people be wrong”. Well, Bush got voted in last election so that’s not a very good line.
Why do I absolutely adore rally? Well to put it simply it is the only auto sport that takes knowing your vehicle more than any other. F1 I think comes close, but even with that you have the reliability of a track, of tarmac, not gravel.
There is no real point to this post, I just happened to find the pic through a friend on Flickr.
Rally Sport racing rocks my socks… no shit, it’s my favorite type of auto racing as well.
You should check out “DIRT” on XBOX 360… it’s a pretty good Rally sport racing game, mixes just enough Arcade style play to keep it fun, but keeps it technical enough to keep you into the game…. but not to technical like Forza (I still can’t play that damn game right)

I love the technical though. Release after release I am not a huge fan of Colin McRae… Richard Burns Rally has been the best rally game I can find but got very little attention State wide.
I’m a Gran Turismo guy so the arcade style feels a bit lack luster…
I like all forms of Racing but how can you not like Nascar it has become one of the top 4 most popular sports in america.
I also prefer IRL mainly cause having a high school class mate to watch race is kind of cool.
How can I not like Nascar… Compared to popular forms of racing outside of the States it is a weak sport. The tracks are almost all the same albeit length or general shape. Compare Nascar to something like rally and you just can’t even care too much about Nascar in my opinion.
Rally takes knowing your car more than anything else. The track changes after every car on it, or change in temperature since it covers snow, mud, gravel, tarmac, etc. Changes in elevation every foot half the time… Compare that to an oval track and eventually you have to ask yourself why Nascar actually is so popular in the first place.
But I do understand why it is popular. Speed, advertising, “extreme” feeling to it via commercials, constant updates, etc. It is perfect for the American audience.
I still have half the respect for it compared to rally, F1, drift, etc.
